The 2020 Madelyn Red Wine Cuvee, for the first time, is made predominately with Cabernet Sauvignon due to the harvest’s low yield of Cabernet and no harvest of the blending fruit. Taking advantage of the allowable 5% cross blending allowed me to include touches of 2021 Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cab Franc to fine tune this wine. The finished blend expresses exactly what is expected for Madelyn Red. It conveys an enticing, elegant richness with an extremely silky personality. Its generous plush aromatics and flavors are nicely woven together to show off its velvety spicy black fruits, cedar, sweet vanilla, spice, and a hint of bittersweet cocoa. Forward flavors of dark fruits like black raspberry and cassis roll into a smooth, gorgeous finish.
