Our 2017 Cabernet is a compelling dark, full-bodied wine which displays deep aromatic rich plum, currant and blackberry on the nose immediately upon opening a bottle. Although we continue to strive to produce a fruit-forward Cabernet, we also work hard to avoid the massive intensity which seems to characterize many Napa Valley Cabernets. We believe you will find this wine to have a marvelous mouth feel, impeccable muted tannin structure, and a smooth finish which accentuates the elegance and balance of our Cabernets. As always, you will find this wine to be approachable and ready to drink now, and it will also continue to develop for another 20 years.
90 points Jeb Dunnuck – There's 5% Petit Verdot in the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is all from the northern end of the valley, in the Calistoga appellation. This deep purple-colored effort has lots of black fruits, licorice, and tar notes as well as a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, balanced style on the palate. With good sweetness of fruit as well as ripe tannins, drink it over the coming decade or so.
